My Peculiar Experience with a Comet

CometHyakutake

Kick-back to 1996, I believe it was either winter or early spring (I could be wrong). I was in 2nd grade playing with my WWF action figures at night when suddenly I had this intense urge to drop what I was doing, run to my window and open the blinds. It is hard to explain, but I had something like an electrical pulse shoot into my head. No idea how I was able to instantaneously understand I was to drop everything and run to the window. A mystery I don’t believe I’ll ever uncover for sure.

The very instant I did this I saw a spectacular blue/white (mostly white) object falling through the sky and crash into the Earth. It was HUGE!!!!! I figured this because I couldn’t hear it, nor could I hear the crash, so I knew it was far away. If it was far away and still appeared large in the night sky, it would have to have been a massive object. I ran to find my grandpa and told him the biggest airplane I’ve ever seen, a space shuttle or a U.F.O. had just crashed! Naturally he didn’t believe me, but the following morning he confirmed my sightings, although it wasn’t what I expected. On the news it was said a comet (Pretty sure it was Comet Hyakutake) flew by at what is considered a close distance to Earth, and could be visible from our area.

I’ll update this if I ever find out for sure which comet it was, but I’m 90% sure it was Comet Hyakutake.
